Miss Timi Ovuru who is known popularly by her pseudonym Timi-Nipre, is a young writer, freelance/features journalist, poet, publisher and founder of Mangroove House Publishers and the convener; Mangroove House Literary Society. Timi is from the Niger-delta region of Nigeria, in Yenagoa Local Government, Bayelsa state precisely. She studied theatre arts at the University of Port Harcourt Nigeria, where she majored in play writing after her Certificate in theatre arts programme in the same institution, where she majored in acting. She holds a certificate in creative writing from the Elechi Amadi school of creative writing Port Harcourt, majoring in fiction writing and upon leaving the university of Port Harcourt went on to study for a diploma in freelance and features writing at the London school of Journalism. Her Degree project ABIKU {A stage play} was published by the department in the 3 rd edition of THE CRAB PLAYS, for it’s brilliance, uniqueness and originality and is till date staged at THE CRAB {The University of Port Harcourt Theatre}. She has had her works published in various journals, magazines and newspapers including News Africa, where she writes a travel journal tagged TRAVEL AFRICA, the now defunct Cream Magazine where she wrote the column FOOTPRINTS FOR SISTERS and the Bayelsa Legacy, EveAfrique Magazine amongst others. She also is the author of CYCLAMEN {A novel that narrates the ordeals of Africans during the era of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade} and WORDS FROM MY FATHERS {A book of translated African quotes} Timi is presently working on her collection of poetry {OKPOR-OTU AND OTHER POEMS} and a collection of short stories {THE BUTTERFLIES IN MY STOMACH} which she intends to have in print by the end of the 2 nd quarter of 2018. She also is working on another book {DIARY OF THE DAUGHTER OF AN EX SOLDIER BOY}, which she says is her recollection of her growing up days as the daughter of an Air Force Officer. She hopes to have this in print by the end of 2018. She believes 2018 is her year of returning and investing more time and attention in her writings and hopes she’s able to still serenade the hearts of her fans from all across the globe. Just because she’s an adrenaline junkie, Timi loves to visit mind blowing destinations and has coffee flowing in her veins because of her addiction to coffee, she says. When she isn’t writing, you’ll find her cooking, designing clothes or doing abstract paintings. She makes you believe the world is truly her oyster. Timi is a fellow of the prestigious EBEDI WRITERS RESIDENCY at Iseyin here in Nigeria. A member of the Nigerian Union of Journalist {NUJ}, Member of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists {NAWOJ} and also a member of the Association of Nigerian Writers {ANA}. She is the proud mother of a beautiful daughter Claire Alagoa and a truly jolly good fellow. Timi-Nipre has been working since her graduation from school and has worked with four 1 st ladies and is presently working as Speech writer to Wife of the Bayelsa state Governor. She hopes to be able to fulfil her long time fantasy of owning a culinary studio to help share her wealth of kitchen tips and also take her kitchen business to a higher level.
