For most people, the last day of every year circumspect around thoughts of events that happened in the present year and making plans towards having a better year the following year. Plans made are mostly based on lessons learnt in the present year. This act has become never-ending, many times an unproductive cycle.

Don’t get me wrong, it is a great act to engage in. However, these plans are soon put under the pillow by most people after some days and activities in the New Year. It would later be looked at again in the middle of the year or towards the end of the year. The race to meet up with all the goals set would now commence. The consciousness at which the plan is made is forgotten when a lot of things start to come up in one’s life. No one is blaming anyone.

However, did you know the way the year ends for everyone is dependent on the daily, very little seedlings they engage in called choice?

The word choice is interchangeably used with the word decision. But many people only use the word when the situation seems quite big and requires conscious, critical thinking. Yet, we daily make choices that affect the bigger picture.

Deciding to stay in bed a little later than usual, choosing to regularly see a doctor, deciding on what to wear and where to be per time, choosing to have daily goals and stick to them, deciding to eat healthily etc are all very minute choices that we daily make. These choices sum up our year.

So, before December 31, 2019, comes knocking at your door, remember that every choice you make every second of every minute of every hour of every day of every week of every month is what sums up your 2019. They are also what determines if you would look back and smile at a great year or be cranky about what could have been.

Live every day of the year just the way you want to look back and smile at it. Your choices make up your year.
